PRATTVILLE – Muscle Shoals sealed up a third straight boys’ state golf championship with a solid performance at the Robert Trent Jones’ Capitol Hill course Tuesday.
The Trojans opened up an 18-stroke lead after the first day of the tournament and kept a firm grip on the lead in the final round.
Muscle Shoals also won boys’ state championships in 2017 and 2018.
Homewood finished second, 21 strokes behind Muscle Shoals. Gulf Shores was third.
Hunter Battles, Thomas Regan and Sam Gargis all finished tied for fourth in the inidividual standings with two-day scores of 150. Allen Michael Burnett was 11th at 153, followed by Eric Collins in 15th spot with a 165.
Gargis had the team’s low score on the final day, firing a 73 to help the Trojans keep Homewood at bay.
Burnett shot a 74 on the final day, while Regan and Battles had solid rounds of 75 and 76 respectively.
