Nick South picked up sectional titles in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the pole vault at the Class 6A sectional track meet at Scottsboro High School. He is the defending state pole vault champion and has the state’s top height of the season at 15 feet, 8 inches.
Jordyn Peters was first in the long jump and fourth in the high jump.
Muscle Shoals boys’ 4×100 team won the sectional title as the Trojans finished third in the team standings.
Trey Williams was second in the 100 and fifth in the 200.
Tomalaski Johnson was sixth in the 200.
In the field events, Jared Titttle finished third in the javelin and 17th in the shot put. Stephen Tanner was fourth in the discus and 22nd in the shot put.
Kyrus Noel was seventh in the high jiump.
Drake Wear finished 10th in the javelin.
Jaeden Bowley was fifth in the shot put, while Gregory Flint finished 13th in the triple jump.
Muscle Shoals’ girls finished second in the 4×100.
Eighth grader Kaylie Wright was third in the 100 and fourth in the 200. She also picked up a second place in the long jump.
In the 1600, Lauren Bracken was third, while Kara Nix was fourth.
Nix was fourth in the 3200, just ahead of Bracken, who finished fifth.
In the 800, Bracken was fourth. Nix finished eighth.
